    Taper time = Black doors.....

With the marathon just a week away it is taper time, which supposedly is a good thing but makes me super nervous.  I mean I didn't taper before running my 20 miles and that felt great, but I have been sticking to a training schedule and that is what it says to do so that is what I am doing!!
So, I like projects, with less time spent running I have picked up a paint brush and started painting all our interior doors (on the main level), black!!  I think Chuck originally thought I was crazy when I told him what I was going to do, but I think it is growing on him!  And to be completely honest, I don't know why parents of little kiddos haven't thought about doing this before because it definitely hides all the little dirty fingerprints that I am constantly cleaning off doors!!
So I started by painting the front door, I was already painting the outside of the front door black but then I decided since I was painting one side I might as well do the other...I wish I had a before picture but this is how it turned out...

So I liked this so much that I decided to paint the two other doors in the front entry...

Please ignore the kiddo toys, it seemed like everytime I got everything cleaned up to take a picture something else came up so, pictures with toys it is!!  When I painted the doors I had to paint the trim around it which was really ok since I have been meaning to do that since we moved in 3 years ago!!
Then I figured since our front door was black our back door should be black as well so then I did this...(actually have a before and after pic here)

Our back door is in the kitchen so then I headed over to do the pantry doors, I debated back and forth on this one but in the end decided to just go for it...its just paint!

I've painted a few more doors black but you get the picture, I am currently trying to decide if I want to paint the doors in our master bath black, not sure about that one.  I love all the others though!  I still need to either spray paint the hardware or buy new but so far I am loving the black doors!

    A Bunny Breakfast....

Well, it's pretty hard to believe that next weekend is Easter, especially since they are calling for 7 inches of snow tomorrow!  Regardless, Easter means breakfast with the Easter Bunny, so this morning we got up and put our very spring-like Easter clothing on and headed out to hang with the bunny for a bit.  Hannah has always been a fan, last year Jack was not!  Today was a very different story...

    St. Patty's Day fun....

Happy St. Patricks Day (a day late)!!
We had such a nice weekend, we even had an extra day and it flew by way to quickly!  Chuck had Friday off for his birthday, so I got up at the crack of dawn and ran my 18 miles.  It wasn't fun but it wasn't horrible so that's promising!
After the run we all hopped in the car and headed down to the St. Patty's Day parade! The kiddos loved it, or maybe they just loved the candy, but we met up with some friends and had a wonderful time...

Saturday was more St. Patty's Day celebrating beginning with the St. Patricks Day run that we do every year downtown.  They were talking rain all week but the sun decided to shine and we had a fun run, even the kiddos enjoyed themselves....

Saturday night Chucks mom was nice enough to watch the kiddos so we could go out and celebrate Chuck's birthday!!  Had a blast and got to hang out with people we haven't seen in a long time!  Great weekend that went way to fast!

    Training, training and more training...

Alright, I said I was going to start writing about other things besides the kiddos so here goes....
The other thing that is consuming my life right now and that I enjoy 95% of the time is running. When I moved to Indianapolis Chuck and I both decided to start running, we signed up for the Indianapolis Mini Marathon in 2004 and we have run every mini since, the only one that we have missed was in 2011 because Jack was born the day before the race. We try to sign up for lots of other races that are held here in Indy, like the Shamrock run, Fishers Freedom Fest and the Freedom run in Carmel, now we mostly focus on races that are kid friendly and that allow us to push the double bob, but the mini has always been our longest run of the year and really the only one we do without the kiddos.
Chuck ran a marathon in 2010, I was pregnant with Jack and was very happy cheering from the sidelines! After that marathon, Chuck said he had no desire to ever run another marathon, I on the other hand really enjoyed the atmosphere of the marathon but was really concerned about the training and the time commentment so my theory was the only marathon I ever wanted to run was the New York City Marathon!! It's a lottery type deal and I am not a lucky person so I figured I would sign up but the chances of actually getting in were pretty slim! Well, lucky me, I got in! Fortunately, Chuck had also been signing up since before his first marathon and he just happened to get in as well, so we began training for my first marathon together.
I really didn't mind the training, the one day a week that both kiddos were in school for 4 hours I would literally drop them off, start running and keep running until it was time to pick them up. It didn't matter though because I was super excited to be training for my first marathon and to top it off it was the New York City Marathon!! Well we all know how that turned out, so not only had I done all the training without the satisfaction of completing the one marathon I wanted to run, it was the end of the running season here in Indy so we really had no options for another race.
So after a month or so of being in a funk and not being satisfied, I signed up for the next race close to home, the Carmel Marathon on April 20th. We are now about 5 weeks from the race, training has been good but different. I pulled out 16 miles on my own this past Saturday and I was very proud of that but also realize on race day I have another 10 miles to go. The next 5 weeks should be interesting.....

    Playing catch up...

Alright, so I am thinking about blogging again.  I miss having something to look back on, to see what the kiddos were doing or getting into last month but I have also realized that now that they are getting older that I have time for other things and that I might find other things to talk about!  Ha, like maybe what I am doing or would like to be doing!  I have no idea if I will be able to maintain this or if I will even have interesting things to talk about but I figure it doesn't hurt to find out.
Since it has been a while, here is a new photo of the two most important people in my world....we just returned from a wonderful trip visiting Papa, Nancy, Julianne and Nicki in California.

Now we are back, its freezing rain and snowing and we are all wishing we could either return to California or spring would hurry up and come to Indianapolis!!  I am currently in round 2 of training for my first marathon since the first one didn't happen.  I tell you what, training for your first marathon 2 times is not fun, this time I am on my own and this weather is making it quite a challenge....who knows, maybe something to write about.
